LAKE ATITLAN TOUR

We visit the beautiful lake of Atitlán and its picturesque towns, full of magical and spiritual energy, such as San Juan la Laguna. We learn about the art of textiles in its full magnificence, the chocolate and coffee cooperatives. We also contemplate the beautiful paintings in one of the biggest art galleries, Santa Catarina Palopó, a mixture of culture and daily life of the people made into textile with colors and designs which tell us a unique story in each one of its embroideries.

VILLAGE TOUR
TOWNS SURROUNDING ANTIGUA

A glimpse into the daily life of these important people and how through their hard work, the economy of the region stays steady. We visit the chocolate and wine cooperatives. We learn about the loquat fruit and all its uses and benefits in the town of San Juan del Obispo, the work on jade, the communal piles in San Pedro las Huertas, the incredible colors and designs of the textiles embroidered 100% by the hands of the women of San Antonio Aguas Calientes, and the macadamia farm. We finish with a delicious lunch at Cervecería Catorce with the wonderful view of the erupting Fuego Volcano.

IXIMCHÉ

ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE

One of the most iconic first Mayan cities of all Guatemala. One and a half hour drive from Antigua Guatemala and two hour tour, we can learn about the Mayan civilization in its daily life and how they achieved living the life they lived, their beliefs, and their outstanding astrological knowledge. We also learn about their social structure, their governors and powerful families. Finally, we learn about the Spanish conquest. All this by a walk through all the city in ruins, getting to know its 4 major plazas and their natural barricades and forts used against their enemies.

​PACAYA VOLCANO

One hour drive from Antigua Guatemala, we can climb one of the most active volcanoes of all Guatemalan history on a 3-4 hour hike in which we can make pizza or roast marshmallows in the hot caves produced by lava and molten rock. We can also enjoy the wonderful view of the Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango Volcanoes.
